What is Happening?

he Iodine Clock reaction is a classic chemistry demonstration. What looks like two clear liquids that are combined stay clear for a few seconds then suddenly change color. Starch and iodine react to create an inky black solution. In this demonstration there are multiple reactions happening that for a short time prevent the starch and iodine from directly reacting. When the limiting reaction ends, the solution quickly turns black.
