lectricity and magnetism are closely intertwined. Electrical currents generate magnetic fields and changing magnetic fields can generate current flow. The jumping ring exhibit is a nice example of Lenz’s law of induction. The changing magnetic field of the lower coil induces a current in the aluminum ring, which in turn creates a magnetic field that opposes the original field.
